Mother of four in critical condition after drive-by shooting in Pasadena

PASADENA, Texas – A woman is fighting for her life after police said she was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in Pasadena.

What happened

Police said the shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 1400 block of Cactus Street.

According to authorities, a couple and their 4-month-old daughter were inside the home when a vehicle drove by and someone in it fired more than a dozen shots into the house.

According to authorities, the woman and her daughter were sleeping in the same room when the shooting happened.

The woman -- who is a mother of four -- was hit once in the head and was transported to a hospital via Life Flight in critical condition, police said.

Officers said one bullet hit the baby's bassinet and came within an inch of hitting the child.

Authorities said the other three kids were staying with their grandparents when the shooting happened.

Police said marijuana was found inside the home during the investigation but did not specify how much or who it belonged to.

What neighbors are saying

"It looks calm over here and everything, and then to hear that," resident Junior Mendes said.

Hector Garcia said he lives nearby. He wasn't home at the time of the shooting but told KPRC 2 that his grandmother was.

"She just told me she heard eight shots and dropped to the floor because she had my little cousin with her,” Garcia said.

Rosie Davis lives on the same street and admits she worries about the safety of her family.

"My son Gabriel sleeps in the front room and I said, 'What if it was us,'" Davis said. “I know the lady. That’s bad and I hope to God that whoever did it thinks about what he just did."
