Teen in critical condition after being shot in neck at north Houston motel, officials say

HOUSTON – A teenager is in critical condition after being shot in the neck Monday at the Express Inn, a north Houston motel, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

Cheryl Gills was staying next door and said her son heard the shots.

"He ran into the where we are next door and he said, 'Mom, come and see; come and see a man is on the ground,'" Gills said.

The shooting was reported around noon at a motel in the 16620 block of Interstate 45.

Gills said it's not what she wanted her son to witness, but she is hopeful he might be able to help investigators.

"He was reluctant to say something, but I said if you see something, say something," said Gills.

Harris County deputies said the 15-year-old was flown by Life Flight to a local hospital and was in critical condition.

"I'm just hoping that they catch the person that did this because nobody deserves this," Gills said.

The cause of the shooting is unknown. Investigators are trying to figure out if the victim was staying at the motel or just visiting.

The Harris County Sheriffs Office is in charge of the investigation but told us they didn't have any information about the shooter.
