HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a man after another man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in northeast Houston, officials said.
According to police, Oscar Ochoa, 27, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Alfredo Garnica, 39.
The shooting was reported at 3:30 p.m. in the 9900 block of Aldine Westfield Road.
According to reports, a woman told police that her nephew fatally shot her husband.
Police said when they arrived they found Garnica shot to death. According to police, they found Ochoa at a second location where he was taken into custody.
"The actual assault and gunfire happened here, so that was when patrol officers had a follow up they were able to detain (Ochoa). He is currently being interviewed right now," said officer Lamont, with Houston Police Department Homicide Division.
Lamont said Ochoa and will be questioned by detectives.
The big question that remains is the motive in the case.
'We don’t have any information as far as the why -- why it happened or what the next steps are at this point," Lamont said.
