3 injured after four gunmen open fire at southeast Houston barbershop, police say

HOUSTON – As many as three people have been wounded in a shooting at a barbershop in southeast Houston, according to police.

The violence erupted around 12:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Sunbeam Street near Ashville Drive.

Police said four men opened fire on the barbershop, striking three people. Police said one victim was shot in the hand and in the leg.

Church minister Eddie Howell was at his church right across from the barbershop at the time of the shooting. Howell said he witnessed the shooting as he was dialing 9-1-1.

“I noticed a young man was shooting at them and a lady was parked inside the lot with small kids. One of the guys that was shot fell beside her while she was on the passenger side ducking from the gunfire and the other victim fell in front of the doorway and went inside and came back out and retrieved the other guy that was shot and they both went into the building,” Howell said.

Houston Police said they are looking for the four suspects responsible for the drive-by shooting that sent three people to the hospital.

Police said the victims' injuries were not life-threatening.
