Serial purse snatcher in Memorial area sought by Harris County authorities

HOUSTON – Harris County authorities released a sketch of a man they said is responsible for multiple robberies in the Memorial area over the last several months.

Authorities said the man and a female accomplice have been known to target their victims during the day in grocery store parking lots.

Officials said the pair is known to follow their victims to remote locations before stealing their purses.

In one case, authorities said an 81-year-old woman was followed to her home in the 13000 block of Queensbury Lane. The man waited for her to exit her car, ran up to her and forcefully grabbed her purse, knocking the woman to the ground in the process.

Authorities said the man then left the scene in a late-model black Dodge Charger with fake temporary license plates.

Officials said surveillance cameras captured the man and a woman entering a nearby department store, where they attempted to use the victim's stolen credit cards.

In another case, authorities said a woman and her two children were followed from a grocery store parking lot to a nearby business in the 14200 block of Memorial Drive.

When the woman entered a building, the man broke into her car and stole her purse, according to authorities. Officials said he left the scene in the same Dodge Charger, despite the victim's efforts to stop the duo.

Officials describe the man as being in his 20s or 30s with close-cropped hair. Authorities described the woman as being in her 20s or 30s with long black hair.
