HOUSTON – Funeral arrangements for Houston icon and civil rights activist Ray Hill were announced on Monday afternoon.
Before he died, Hill told KPRC he would like his funeral to be held on the steps of City Hall, the same spot where he fought so many battles over the decades.

The service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. on the front steps of City Hall.
A spokesperson said Mayor Sylvester Turner approved Hill's request for the event to be held. Honorary pallbearers will be in attendance but neither Hill's body nor his ashes will be present. That will be reserved for a private family funeral.
