Brookshire mayor scheduled to go to trial for assault charge

BROOKSHIRE, Texas – Waller County court records show the mayor of the town of Brookshire is scheduled to go on trial this week.

Mayor Eric Scott is facing misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an incident between he and the town's city secretary last year.

A jury is being selected Monday and the trial is expected to start Wednesday morning.

Court records state during an argument with the city secretary, Scott slammed a door and caught her "knee and leg between the door jamb and the door."

Scott was also accused of interfering with public duties relating to a dust-up with the town's police department during Hurricane Harvey.

However, court records indicate Scott was not formally charged in that incident and the matter has been disposed.

The mayor faced even more scrutiny in 2014 over an odd incident in the neighboring town of Sealy.
