Car chase suspect bitten by police dog as he tried to run, police said.


HOUSTON – Houston police say a 10-minute chase ended early Sunday morning when the man they were pursuing stopped the car and started to run.

The police pursuit started around 1 a.m. downtown near Pierce and Austin streets after the motorist ran a red light,  police said.

The car chase ended on Josie Street near Ledwick Street in east Houston when the driver took off on foot, and a K-9 unit helped track him down, according to police. 

The man was bitten by a police dog as officers were taking him into custody.
