Election Day 2018: What you need to know before heading to the polls

HOUSTON – Early voting ended in Texas on Friday, so if you want to cast your ballot in the 2018 midterm election you'll have to do so on Tuesday.

One of the big differences between early voting and voting on Election Day is where you can vote. During the early-voting period, you can go to any polling place. However, on Election Day, in Harris County, you must go to the polling place of the precinct where you are registered to vote. Other counties use voting centers, and allow people to cast their ballot at any center.

On Election Day, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Identification is required on Election Day, but it doesn't have to be a photo ID. Check below for a list of ID requirements.

To help answer your voting questions on Election Day, KPRC2 will host a phone bank and online discussion by the League of Women Voters of Houston from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. We'll post the phone number and web address here when they are ready to answer your questions.
