UH Downtown students participate in annual 'Walk 2 Vote' initiative

HOUSTON – Students at the University of Houston-Downtown left their classrooms and hit the streets for their annual Walk 2 Vote effort, hoping to change the narrative around millennial voter participation.

"We usually see that usually we aren't as active, but that statistic is changing," said UH Downtown student Diana Platas.

Students walked half a mile to the early voting location at the Harris County Law Library.

"With Wwalk 2 Vote we try to give the millennial students and all the rest of the students hope that their voices are important," said UH Downtown student Rachel Gravlee.

Earlier in the day, the Student Government Association hosted a candidate meet and greet with nearly two dozen candidates for local and state offices.
