DPS police dog helps net hundreds of pounds of drugs near Rosenberg
ROSENBERG, Texas – More than 200 pounds of heroin and cocaine were confiscated near Rosenberg during a routine traffic stop.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said one of its troopers stopped a van along I-69 for a routine traffic violation. However, the circumstances changed when a police dog sniffed the van.
According to the DPS, the drug-sniffing canine led the trooper to 33 pounds of heroin and 165 pounds of cocaine.
The trooper arrested 32-year-old Alexandra Briones and 76-year-old Alejandra Briones of Pharr. They were taken to the Fort Bend County jail, and have been charged with delivery of a controlled substance.
