Youth football coach accused of indecency with a child

Craig Michael Gibbs (KPRC2)

HOUSTON – A La Porte youth football coach is accused of indecency with a child.

Craig Gibbs appeared in court Monday morning. A judge ordered Gibbs to have no contact with the female victim.

Gibbs, 41, was arrested Friday and charged with indecency of a child with sexual contact.

Court documents state the victim reached out to a pastor about the alleged abuse.

The victim said the abuse had been going on for the past year. She told investigators Gibbs would touch her breasts.

Police said that when confronted about the allegations, Gibbs told them he was trying to build the girl's confidence by having her do "super hero poses."

According to the La Porte Cowboys Football Organization, Gibbs was also a football coach for the peewee team, but it is not clear if he is still with the organization after the charges came to light.

Gibbs is currently out on a $20,000 bond.

Court documents indicated that the alleged victim was not related to Gibbs' coaching position.
