Barbara Bush ties the knot in Maine
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush, got married Sunday during a private ceremony at the family’s compound in Maine.
Jim McGrath, spokesman for the Bush family, tweeted a link to an article by People Magazine, formally announcing the marriage of Barbara Bush to her screenwriter fiance, Craig Coyne.
People reported that only 20 family members witnessed the ceremony that overlooked the ocean in the backyard of the Kennebunkport home.
In addition to her mother, father and twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, her grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush was also in attendance.
Jenna Bush Hager provided details about the wedding to the "Today Show" on Monday.
"It was a very secret wedding, a little bit like my elusive sister, but also, just family in a place that means family love, and it was just beautiful," she said.
Former first lady Barbara Bush, the bride's grandmother and namesake, died in April.
“There were so many happy tears. They wanted to get married here [Kennebunkport] because my grandfather’s here, so it was a very secret wedding…Just family in a place that means family love.” @jennabushhager talks about her sister Barbara’s wedding pic.twitter.com/pu1SQCprAR— TODAY (@TODAYshow) October 8, 2018
