MD Anderson celebrates professor for winning Nobel Prize in medicine

HOUSTON – A big celebration Friday for a Houston doctor who was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in medicine.

Friends and colleagues joined together with Dr. Jim Allison from University of Texas MD Anderson, to celebrate the honor. Hundreds were on hand for Friday's event.

Allison received the Nobel Prize for launching a new way to attack cancer. His method attacks cancer by treating the immune system, rather than the tumor.

That approach was used to treat former President Jimmy Carter.
