Hundreds of people died taking selfies, study reveals

HOUSTON – A study finds that hundreds of people have died while clicking selfies.

The stud,y conducted by the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, looked at the problem of selfie-related deaths across the world. 

The research found there were 259 deaths out of 137 incidents. This happened between October 2011 and November 2017.

Other findings:

  • Mean age was about 23 years
  • More than 72% of deaths occurred in males

The top four countries where these deaths have been reported include India, Russia, United States and Pakistan.

The study concluded "no selfie zones" should be declared across tourist areas, especially places with high water bodies, mountain peaks and tall buildings.
