4 men sought after father shot, killed at north Houston home

Group gets away in victim's pickup

HOUSTON – A father was shot and killed Wednesday at a home in north Houston, police said.

According to investigators, around 10:15 p.m. four men either forced their way or were let into 36-year-old John Edwards' home in the 400 block of East Delz.

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots and saw the men run from the house, get into Edwards' white Dodge Ram pickup truck and drive away.

Edwards died at the scene.

Family members said Edwards had a wife and daughter, who were not home at the time of the shooting.

The victim's sister-in-law said Edwards and his wife were teenage sweethearts and had been married for 20 years. The couple have a 12-year-old daughter.

“We are in disbelief. We don’t know what happened with him,” Rickeydria Hall said. “He didn’t get into it with anybody.”

Hall said Edwards was found with his pockets inside out and he was "shot a couple times."

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of Edwards' white Dodge Ram pickup truck, which family members said is missing its tailgate, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
