Police said the man was in a car at Cloverland Park with another man and two women. They'd stopped at the park to use the bathroom when two masked men approached them, police said. The men robbed the group, took one woman's purse and shot the man in the passenger's seat.

"They told me to give them everything I had and they had a gun in my face. They waved a gun in my face," said the female driver. “I was scared or my life.”

The woman drove to the shopping center for help, police said.

"If I give you my purse, why would you fire back at me? If you already have what you want, why would you take a person’s life," the driver said. "I just pray to God, that they find the people that did that because my friend was, my friend was a good person."

The 41-year-old father of three died in the car.

No one else was injured.

Police questioned the man and women who were in the car with the victim.

"There’s a possibility it was a crime of opportunity, because the individuals were just friends hanging out," said Sgt. Thomas Simmons, with Houston Police Department.

The other people in the car were not able to describe the men who robbed them, police said.

No arrests have been made.
