Woman identified after body found at northwest Harris County home

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Investigators said a woman's body was found in northwest Harris County on Friday and her car is missing.

According to investigators, the adult woman's body was found around 6:35 p.m. in the 12400 block of Bent Pine Drive.

“Family members had been trying to reach a family member that lives in this home to make contact with her,” explained Thomas Gilliland, a spokesperson for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “They did make entry into the home where they did find a female deceased in the home.”

An ambulance was called and the woman was pronounced dead. She was identified as 62-year-old Pamela Johnson.

Investigators don’t know how she died, but the Harris County sheriff’s homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Authorities are asking for people to be on the lookout for a 2004 maroon PT Cruiser with Texas license plates  BC48217.

"I don't think she would have had an enemy in this world. She didn't bother anyone," said neighbor Celeste Phillips.

It’s still under investigation as to how she was killed. Neighbors described the area as quiet and family-friendly. They said she was also partially deaf.

"I couldn't believe it happened right here in the neighborhood," said neighbor Cameron Kendrick.

Kendrick and other neighbors would see Johnson just about every day. They described her as a sweet, quiet and a person that would, other than helping her neighbors with yard work, keep to herself.

"She was a good neighbor. She was a good neighbor, and she worked at the local Kroger, so anytime you went grocery shopping, you were bound to run into her. She was always there, and as soon as she would get off work, she had the same routine -- she would sit on her driveway, read her Bible and do yardwork," Kendrick said.

Investigators are now looking at surveillance video and asking the public for help in finding Johnson's stolen car.

"It's very scary for the neighborhood. You see it on TV, and you never think it's going to be too close to home," Phillips said.

Neighbors said her extended family stopped by the home after investigators notified them. They were in town for a family reunion that was supposed to take place this weekend.

Investigators are asking anyone who knows anything about what happened to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
