Woman dies after being shot in the head in north Harris County, deputies search for suspect
HOUSTON – A suspect has been identified Thursday after an early-morning shooting in north Harris county that left a woman dead.
The shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the La Esencia apartments in the 300 block of Vista Drive.
Investigators said a 22-year-old woman was arguing with a man, with whom she had some type of relationship when she got into a vehicle with her four children and another woman, who is 42-years-old, and attempted to drive away. The man, identified as James Johnson, 23, opened fire at the car, striking the 42-year-old woman in the head, deputies said.
The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but later died, deputies said.
Johnson will be charged with murder, officials said. He has yet to be located following the incident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
