HOUSTON – Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo Monday said his department will send help to Austin, which has been beset by a series of bombings.
HPD will send two explosive ordinance disposal technicians and an EOD K-9 team to Austin to help with bomb detection and prevention.
"These are the type of situations that require everybody to come together, and we need to focus on unity and focus on one thing and one thing only, and that's to find the person of persons who are to blame for these cowardly attacks," Acevedo said.
Acevedo tweeted about the decision.
Honored to send 2 EOD Techs, & an EOD K-9 team to @austintexasgov on behalf of @SylvesterTurner & @HoustonTX. Our hearts are heavy for our family, friends, neighbors & colleagues in Austin, but we are steadfast in our support. Unity, vigilance & purpose is the order of the day.
