K-9s at Precinct 1 receive lifesaving equipment

HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS – Several Harris County Constable Precinct 1 K-9s have new equipment to keep them safe on the streets.

K-9s named LeMans, Bax, Edo, Lethal, Stori and Edge have received bullet and stab protective vests, thanks to a charitable donation from the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The group's mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs in law enforcement.

"In memory of K9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police" was embroidered on vests for LeMans, Bax, Edo and Stori.

"In memory of K9 Ty, California City Police Department" was embroidered on Lethal's vest.

"Honoring those who served and sacrificed" was embroidered on Edge's vest, which was sponsored by an anonymous sponsor.

There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K-9s throughout the United States.
