Man flips car in police chase, runs across beltway before he is arrested

HOUSTON – A man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after a police chase.

The chase happened just after midnight near the South Beltway, Houston police said.

The man was driving a dark-colored vehicle and ultimately struck a retaining wall between the access road and the main lanes, flipping over the wall, police said.

The man then got out of the car and fled the scene, running across all moving lanes of the Beltway, police said. He was taken into custody on the other side of the toll road, investigators said.

The driver was checked out by medics at the scene, but he was not transported to a hospital.

Police are working to learn more about this incident.
