“We are super-excited because we have a secret Valentine for all of our animals here at the Harris County Animal Shelter,” said Kerry McKeel, senior communications consultation for the Harris County Animal Shelter.

“Come here and adopt,” said McKeel. “(It's) The perfect Valentine’s Day gift, so much unconditional love to offer."

The shelter sees anywhere from 60 to 80 new animals a day and the shelter currently has more than 200 animals.

Future animal parents don’t need much adopt a pet, since the adoption fee is free. Included in the option are age-appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter, microchip and a one-year pet license for any cat or dog in the facility.

“I want to thank this generous anonymous Valentine’s Day donor that is making this possible, and to the community,” said McKeel. “We really appreciate the community’s support coming there to adopt and help us get these animals to permanent homes.”

Depending on the animal, most adoptions cost anywhere from $25 to $100.

The Harris County Animal Shelter said adopters must be at least 18 years old to adopt. They also have fostering programs available.
