UH student punched, carjacked in parking lot near campus

HOUSTON – A University of Houston student was carjacked in a parking lot near campus on Monday, according to a release from the university.

The woman was driving in the parking lot of the Mormon Church in the 5000 block of Calhoun Drive when a man approached the vehicle and asked for directions, the release said.

The man punched the woman and took her vehicle, according to authorities.

Several other men got in the vehicle before it left the scene southbound on MLK Boulevard, towards Old Spanish Trail.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

The man accused of punching the woman and stealing the car is described as black, about 6-feet tall, thin build, about 20 to 25 years old, had no facial hair and a light complexion. He was wearing a black beanie, white sweater and white gloves at the time.

The stolen vehicle is a 2012 black Toyota Corolla with D45D285 license plates. There is a Puerto Rico flag on the back window.
