Homeowner chases man who crashes SUV into north Houston home, causing fire

HOUSTON – A man is accused of driving drunk after he crashed an SUV into a home in north Houston, which sparked a small fire, police say.

Just before 3:30 a.m., the driver of an SUV crashed into the side of a home in the 300 block of John Alber, police said.

Police said the after crash the driver got upset when the homeowner wouldn’t help him out of the vehicle. Once the driver got free, he tried to run but the homeowner chased the man and held him until police arrived, investigators said.

The homeowner said the driver begged him not to call police, but he did anyway.

The homeowner, his wife and children were upstairs asleep at the time of the crash.

No one was injured.

The driver could face charges of driving under the influence.
