HOUSTON – A 14-year-old student was stabbed near a Houston Independent School District middle school Wednesday, police said.
The stabbing was reported around 5:20 p.m. at 200 E Halbert Park near Hamilton Middle School.

Houston police said the student was stabbed once and ran back to the school to ask for help after the incident. Police said the student was then taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
Police are investigating the incident.
HISD officials released the following statement:
"A Hamilton Middle School student was injured Wednesday afternoon in an incident that occurred off campus. The student ran back to the school for help and staff called 911. Any additional information needs to come from HPD."
