LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – A 2-year-old Liberty County girl drowned in a pond Thursday, according to authorities.
The child's grandmother said she went to the bathroom while she was babysitting the child and when she returned, the child was gone.

About an hour later, around 1 p.m., the girl's body was found in a nearby pond on County Road 2113, authorities said.
The girl was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.
