Local leaders call on Sens. Ted Cruz, John Cornyn to find DACA solution


HOUSTON – City leaders are urging Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz to help find a permanent solution for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program recipients who are currently in the county.

The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, along with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, called on national leaders to provide a clear path to citizenship for all DACA recipients.

There re more than 68,000 of them living in the Houston area, and Turner and the chamber are asking  the community to help protect them.

Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., the White House and Congress are negotiating permanent immigration reform.
