Young woman shot twice by friend, police say


HOUSTON – A young woman was shot twice in southeast Houston likely knew her attacker, detectives with the Houston Police Department said. 

The woman and the shooter were talking outside her home near the intersection of Elrod and Garland Streets before the gunman shot the woman twice in the leg and drove off in a white Chrysler, police said.

Police said they are working to learn what caused the shooting.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. She is expected to survive.

Police are working to identify the shooter, who is still on the run, detectives said.
