A man traveling eastbound on Crosstimbers Street ran a red light and crashed into a Houston police car, which was traveling northbound on Airline Drive. After the impact, both cars were pushed into the oncoming southbound lanes of Airline Drive, police said.

A third car crashed into the man's vehicle and hit later by a fourth vehicle, police said.

Police said after the initial impact, slick roads caused the vehicles to continue sliding into oncoming traffic.

One of the victims was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The other victims involved, including the HPD officer, were not injured, police said.

The man who ran the red light fled the scene of the crash, but was later apprehended by police.
