HOUSTON – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on a southeast Houston overpass Tuesday night.
The man was struck around 7:30 p.m. on the Gulf Freeway near the Dixie Farm Road exit, just outside Beltway 8.
Authorities said the man was driving a truck on the overpass and lost control while attempting to avoid a slower vehicle. The truck spun around and came to a stop in a moving lane of traffic, authorities said.
The man got out of the truck and was attempting to fix his vehicle when a person driving a white SUV came over the hill, slammed on his brakes, skidded and slammed into the truck, also hitting the man.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger in the truck and the driver of the SUV were unharmed.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was determined not to be impaired, police said. The driver was released and it is not clear if he will be facing any charges.
