Serial robber wanted for hitting at least 17 stores, Houston police say

HOUSTON – Police are searching for a man who they said is responsible for at least 17 store robberies.

Police said he commits the robberies at central Houston stores in a similar fashion. 

The man walks up to the counter and acts as though he is going to make a purchase, then hands the employee a note, officers said. 

In the note, police said he threatens to shoot the clerk if they do not cooperate and give him the money in the register.

Pizza L'Vino in Rice Village was one of the stores that was targeted.

"It said, 'Give me all your money or I'll kill everyone in here,'" Rafael Perez, co-manager of Pizza L'Vino, said. "My co-worker just gave him everything in the register. There were two other employees in here. He didn't want to risk their safety at all."

Police said at Trader Joe’s, an employee saw what appeared to be a handgun in the suspect’s front waistband.

Authorities are worried because the man does not seem to be concerned about being caught.

"He hit just downtown, just down the road from our station, that's how brazen this guy is," Det. Jeff Brieden said.

Suspect Description: Black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall to 6 feet tall, weighs 180 to 220 pounds, possibly a scar on the left cheek.

Vehicle Description: Was seen in a four-door gray vehicle in one of the Walgreens robberies and has also been seen leaving on a bike.
