Dog attacks woman in Pearland, police say

PEARLAND, Texas – A woman was taken to the hospital after being attacked by a dog in Pearland on Wednesday, according to police.

The woman, 20, was attacked by one of her parent's dogs in the 11200 block of Edwards Avenue around 3:45 p.m.

When officers arrived, the dog continued acting aggressively and was shot and killed by officers, police said.

Officers applied a tourniquet to the woman's severely injured arm before she was taken to an area hospital via helicopter.

Her injuries are not life-threatening, according to authorities.
