What's next for Jimbo Fisher as Texas A&M football coach

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The transition has taken place and now it is time for Jimbo Fisher to prove he was the right choice at Texas A&M.

The real report card, of course, will come out starting next September, when  the Aggies open their 2018 season.

In the SEC world, it is all about winning big and claiming championships. Fisher's grand plan includes both, not to mention becoming a national power.

Fisher is now on board in Aggieland and the work begins.

1.) Staff: Fisher has spent his early time here meeting with current staffers from Kevin Sumlin's group. There will be some who are retained but new faces will join Fisher, perhaps from Florida State. Fisher, though, likes coaches with Texas ties.

2.) Recruiting: This is a major key, especially in December. Several recruits were in College Station Sunday and there are more to come. The Aggies have a nice class already, and Fisher wants to keep it intact and add to it. I expect he and his staff will steal a few as well.

3.) Meet the fans: Like any new coach, pressing the flesh is key, and Fisher will likely have a full calendar across Texas in the months ahead.

4.) Spring practice: Once he gets settled, the football offseason gets going. There is no time to slow down. Likely by April and May, Fisher will hold his first Spring Practices to continue evaluating talent.

5.) Embrace TAMU traditions: This is important, as it's the lifeblood of the university.  Fisher will be briefed and he will embrace all of the Aggies' traditions . It's part of the Gig Em'!
