Woman accused of looting Sunnyside liquor store of more than $22K worth of booze during Harvey

HOUSTON – A 37-year-old woman has been charged with burglary of a building after authorities said she stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a liquor store in the 8300 block of Woodward Street during Hurricane Harvey.

Authorities said on Aug. 28, Tiffinay Dee Star Child Barrie and another person were caught inside the store.

This was at a time Gov. Greg Abbott had declared a state of emergency in the Houston area.

When officers arrived at the store, they found the doors had been pried off and the inside was ransacked, according to court documents.

Barrie was seen falling into a ditch as she was running out of the store, court documents read.

Officers were able to identify her and charged her with looting after the owner of the business told investigators that she was not authorized to be inside the store at that time, according to court records.

The owner of the business said he lost $21,750 worth of liquor, $650 worth of beer and $475 worth of cigarettes, and had $750 worth of damage.
