When deputies arrived they found 26-year-old Rachel Butler and her husband, 39-year-old Jason Butler, laying in the driveway. Rachel Butler had been shot in the chest and her husband had been shot in the head, deputies said.

Jason Butler was pronounced dead at the scene, Rachel Butler was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition, deputies said.

According to Lt. Josh Schmidt of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the couple went to Houston earlier in the evening to attend a high school reunion.

Schmidt said the couple got into an argument on their way home and it continued in the driveway after they arrived.

The argument in the driveway turned physical. Jason Butler allegedly grabbed a gun from his truck and allegedly shot his wife, Schmidt said.

Jason Butler’s body has been taken to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy.
