Man charged after shooting wife several times in Fresno home, officials say

FRESNO, Texas – A man was arrested and charged after shooting his wife several times Thursday at a home in Fort Bend County.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office was called around 10:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting at a home on Collier Point Drive near Emerald Lodge Lane.

Rodney Drew, 48, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily harm.

Deputies said the woman inside the home has been shot four to five times in the chest and arms and was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Deputies said she is in stable condition, is expected to survive and will have surgery Friday.

Deputies said the couple's 12-year-old son was in the home at the time of the shooting.

Investigators are working to learn what led up to the shooting.

Drew is being held on $250,000 bail and is facing a first-degree felony.
