Harris County Judge Ed Emmett had a stroke before Hurricane Harvey hit Houston

HOUSTON – Harris County Judge Ed Emmett suffered a stroke about a week and a half before Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston area, according to officials.

Emmett was driving to Victoria when he noticed a problem with his vision. He went to an emergency room in Victoria and his doctors were notified and put him on medication. He was then flown back to Houston.

Emmett was back to work within a day or two.

His doctors were calling him during the disaster, asking him to rest. His family and medical staff kept a close eye on the judge during the flooding.

Emmett has fully recovered from the stroke, with no lingering effects.
