Fort Bend ISD hiring crossing guard after mother hit, killed by SUV

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Fort Bend Independent School District said it is in the process of hiring a crossing guard after a mother was hit and killed by an SUV while walking her child to school last week.

According to the district, the crossing guard will patrol the intersection of Sienna Ranch and Nueces Creek, where the crash happened.

Lisa Smith, 37, was killed in the accident. Her 6-year-old son was injured but is expected to make a full recovery.

Neighbors said they had requested a crossing guard at the intersection prior to the crash.

The district said crossing guard applications are being accepted and reviewed, but no start date has been established.
