Man hit, killed while refueling car on Katy Freeway feeder road

HOUSTON – A man was arrested Friday after police said he hit and killed a man who was refueling his car on a Katy Freeway feeder road.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. at the intersection of the freeway and Barker Cypress Road.

Houston police said a vehicle driven by Reginald Hunter, 26, ran out of gas on the outbound service road. They said that as Hunter was refueling the vehicle, he was hit by a vehicle driven by Esteban Gonzalez, 45.

Hunter was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Gonzalez was charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the crash.
