Man dies after being shot by deputy near Kingwood after chase

KINGWOOD, Texas – A man died Monday after being shot several times by a Montgomery County deputy after a chase that ended near Kingwood, according to authorities.

The shooting was reported about 2 p.m. near Kingwood and Green Oak drives.

According to Houston police, the deputy chased a man on a motorcycle after the license plate on the motorcycle came back as invalid. They said the chase ended with a crash. They said the man on the motorcycle ran into a nearby parking lot, where he tried to carjack a person at a carwash. They said the deputy and the motorcyclist struggled, and the deputy used his Taser. They said the motorcyclist then pulled a gun out of his backpack, and the deputy shot him several times.

A photographer at the scene said a body was lying in the parking lot where the shooting happened.

The deputy, who was from Montgomery County Precinct 4, was not injured in the shooting, according to police.
