Girl, 4, among victims in deadly shooting at southwest Houston apartments

HOUSTON – A 4-year-old girl was shot in the head, and a man was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in southwest Houston, police said.

Residents at the Westward Square Apartments in the 6200 block of Gulfton Street said they heard five gunshots around 10 p.m. Sunday.

"The victims were in the breezeway between the two buildings," said  Detective Keith Lovelace, a Houston Police Department homicide investigator.

Police said a group of people were talking when two men drove up and started shooting.

Police said paramedics took 4-year-old Ashley Perdomo and her mother, 35-year-old Carol Perdomo, to a hospital where the child later died.

"I knew her since she was a baby so it's hard to know that she's not here anymore," a neighbor said.

A third victim, Miguel Marquez, 31 was pronounced dead at the scene.  A fourth person, Zibullah Sahok, 30, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

According to investigators there were two shooters, but no arrests have been made.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
