Teen, man arrested after police chase

HOUSTON – A 16-year-old and a man were taken into custody leading them on a chase after hit-and-run, officials said.

The chase started at 3:59 p.m. at highway 59 and Beltway 8.

Harris County Precinct 5 Capt. Kevin Hubbard said one of their deputies spotted a hit-and-run accident, which led to the chase.

Hubbard said the vehicle was going 100 mph and at some point, the driver attempted to shoot at a deputy with a pistol. He said the driver appeared to pull the trigger twice, but the gun locked and didn't fire.

Officials said the suspects threw the pistol out the window during the chase, but a Houston Police Department K-9 unit located the gun.

The chase ended at 4:28 p.m. in the 8900 block of West Airport Boulevard, where the suspects were taken into custody.

Police said there were no reported injuries.
