Would-be thieves smash van into middle of southeast Houston store

Four people are on the run after they smashed a stolen van into the middle of a store in southeast Houston, police said.

According to investigators, two of the four burglars wore masks as they tried to ram an ATM in the middle of the store. 

Police said the crooks were unsuccessful in their plan after the van died and the ATM got stuck under the vehicle.

The four people ran from the store empty-handed, police said.

The store clerk who was inside was not injured, police said.
