Reward offered for robber accused in hotel clerk's shooting death, DPS says

$5,000 available for info on 'Reggie' Campbell

AUSTIN, Texas – Investigators are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads authorities to Reginald “Reggie” Vernard Campbell, who has been added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, officials said Tuesday.

The 24-year-old is responsible for a robbery that took place Aug. 11 at the Quality Suites hotel in Sherman that ended with the deadly shooting of a front desk clerk, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Two accomplices were arrested in the incident and authorities identified Campbell as the masked suspect behind the robbery and killing, investigators said in a news release. Campbell is now accused of capital murder.

On Aug. 23, officials came across Campbell near Columbia, South Carolina, but he assaulted the officers and escaped, authorities said.

Campbell has ties to Columbia; Fayetteville, North Carolina; and New York, including Yonkers and New York City. He also lived in the Corpus Christi area for a period of time in 2016, the release said.

Campbell is 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has tattoos covering both arms, his fingers and left hand. Campbell has also been known to go by the name “Johnny.”

People are warned not to approach fugitives such as Campbell, who are considered armed and dangerous. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.
