Missouri City police search for armed robbery suspect who poses as customer

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Missouri City police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store on Cartwright Road.

Police said it was wasn't an average robbery. The man pretended to be a normal customer on Sept. 30 at the First Stop Food Store, making a normal purchase. The clerk told police that the man grabbed an AZ Iced Tea and a cookie and waited in line until the store was empty. When he got to the front of the line, police said he pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the cash drawer.

Police said the clerk gave the man the till and he emptied the cash into a box before walking out of the store.

Investigators said this might not be the armed robbers first time. A separate robbery that took place on Sept. 30 was very similar, police said.

"If you walked into this store prior to this robbery you wouldn't know this was about to happen." Missouri City Police Capt. Paul Pouton said. "The guy was very calm, very cool."

The man was last seen walking toward the back of the store.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Det. Andy Robb, with the Missouri City Police Department, at 281-403-5860.
