Man hit, killed on North Freeway

HOUSTON – Police are searching for a driver who hit and killed a man on the North Freeway Saturday morning.

It happened on the outbound lanes of the North Freeway at Greens Road around 3:15 a.m.

According to police, two men crashed their car near the Greens Road exit. Police say they got out the car and tried to flag another driver down.

That driver stopped for the men, but when they tried to enter her car she left the scene.

Police say the men then spotted a disabled car on the other side of the highway. One of the men attempted to cross the main lanes of the North Freeway and was hit.

The driver of that vehicle did not stop.

The man did not survive.

His friend reportedly told police they had been drinking.

All main lanes of the North Freeway were shut down while police investigated.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
