HPD officer involved in crash with truck

A Houston police officer was involved in a crash Sunday morning, officials said.

According to police, the officer was traveling east towards a pursuit on Bellaire near Belle Park Drive when the patrol vehicle hit the back of a pickup truck.

Police said both the pickup truck and the patrol vehicle lost control. 

Police said the patrol car then crashed into a brick wall, knocking down a portion of the wall before coming to a stop.

The officer, identified as K. Vu,  and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to the hospital. 

Police said the officer suffered minor injuries. He was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon. 

The driver of the truck remains at Memorial Hermann hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
