Son accused of stabbing mother to death, injuring father, police say

HOUSTON – A man is accused of stabbing his mother to death and injuring his father at a west Houston home, police said.

The stabbing was reported in the 12000 block of Westella Drive.

Upon arrival, police said, they found the mother dead. The father was on the way to a hospital. Police said he had been able to leave the home and get help from neighbors.

Police said 28-year-old Kyriakos Georghiou walked out of the home carrying two knives was arrested. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member.

The son had a history of domestic violence and drug abuse at home, police said. He had an open warrant for assaulting his mother and there was a protective order against him, stipulating that he stay away from the her, police said.

The father is in critical condition.
