HPD officer, good Samaritans pull man from burning truck in Fort Bend County

Three good Samaritans and a Houston police officer are credited with saving a man’s life after a head-on crash Tuesday caused a truck to burst into flames in Fort Bend County.

According to investigators, the driver of a truck and the driver of a car crashed head-on in the 7200 block of McHard.

Three witnesses and the officer stopped to help the drivers, investigators said. While they were checking the men’s conditions, the engine of the truck caught fire. The rescuers pulled the victim from the truck.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital. One man suffered injuries to his head and face. The other man had a broken leg. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
